The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) allows beneficiaries to successfully appeal for declined SRD grant and social grant applications. You have the right to lodge an appeal within 90 days of receiving the rejection notice to get your grant reinstated for benefits.
You can submit a SASSA Appeal for review directly to the Independent Tribunal for Social Assistance Appeals (ITSAA) at the Department of Social Development (DSD). The ITSAA is assembled to make final decisions based on your specific circumstances. After submitting your appeal application, you can track your SASSA appeal status to stay updated on progress and outcomes.

Processing Time for SRD Appeal Outcome
Every SASSA appeal application goes through a processing period where your appeal is checked against SASSA requirements for the requested social grant. The Independent Tribunal for Social Assistance Appeals (ITSAA) will notify you electronically of the outcome within 60 to 90 days of lodging the appeal. Your Sassa grant will be reinstated for monthly payments if your circumstances match the requirements. This online appeal process has been instrumental in securing approvals for previously declined grants and has aided countless applicants in recent years.
