This process is for grant applicants who were previously declined but whose circumstances have now changed, making them eligible for the grant.
You can submit a reconsideration request for your grant in the following situations.
- Cancelled Grant: If your grant was recently cancelled, you can submit a reconsideration application to reinstate it and start receiving monthly benefits.
- Changed Circumstances: If your personal or financial situation has changed since your initial application, you may now be eligible for a SASSA grant.
SASSA Reconsideration
To submit your SRD reconsideration application follow the process steps accurately to have your declined grant reconsidered by the Republic of South Africa.
- To apply for Sassa reconsideration visit https://srd.dsd.gov.za/
- Provide your South African ID number and registered cell phone number.
- Insert the OTP PIN received on your phone to proceed.
- You will reach the ‘SASSA Reconsideration page to appeal for reconsideration.
- Choose the month when you receive the SASSA grant declined notification.
- State your reason for reconsideration appeal to have your grant reconsidered.
- Check the option Agree to Terms and Conditions.
