SASSA grant-in-aid: what it is and how to check your status
The grant-in-aid is an extra monthly top-up paid to people who already receive a qualifying SASSA grant and need full-time care at home because of a severe health condition. It is paid together with the main grant on the same payday.

The grant-in-aid is R580 per month for 2026/27. It is paid in addition to your main grant and is set in the national budget.
