SASSA Increase October 2025 New Grant Payment Amounts Confirmed
The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has welcomed the announcement of social grant increases made by the Minister of Finance in the 2025/26 National Budget Speech in Parliament. SASSA increase October 2025 payments will take effect from the scheduled October payment dates.
SASSA Increase October 2025 New Grant Payment Amounts Confirmed
This year, the National Budget allocate an annual adjustment of R100 for SASSA grants, providing much-needed relief for millions of vulnerable South Africans. A significant increase was implemented on 01 April 2025, and now the second phase of the adjustment has taken effect. SASSA has confirmed a R10 increase in the new grant payment amounts for specific social grants, effective from the October 2025 payment dates.
From October 2025, an additional R10 will be added to the Old Age Grant, Care Dependency Grant, Disability Grant, and War Veterans Grant. Other grants remain unchanged, including the Foster Care Grant, Child Support Grant, and the SRD Grant, which have not been increased since R370.

Effective Schedule of Increased SASSA Grant Payments
Earlier this year, in the Parliament of the Republic of South Africa, Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana announced in the National Budget Speech that social grants will be adjusted in two phases during the 2025/26 financial year. With the first phase already completed, the second phase will now run for the next six months, ensuring continuity and stability in payments.

SASSA CEO Welcomes Social Grant Increase for 2025
In an official statement, SASSA CEO Themba Matlou welcomed the social grant increase for 2025, describing it as a crucial adjustment and a timely intervention against inflation, and growing unemployment in the country.
“This reaffirms the government’s commitment to protecting the most vulnerable in society, easing financial burdens, and cushioning them against ongoing economic hardships,” Mr Themba Matlou.
SASSA CEO further emphasised that all systems are ready for the October 2025 payment cycle, assuring beneficiaries that they will receive their grants on the scheduled payment dates without disruption.

All social grants for October 2025 will be paid according to the official SASSA payment dates schedule for the month.
