SASSA July 2025 Grant Payment: Update Your Banking Details to Avoid Delays
With increased awareness among SASSA beneficiaries, millions of South Africans have moved to bank payments. If you have opened a new bank account and want to switch to receiving your SASSA grant via bank transfer rather than the Post Office, you can update your banking details to avoid any delays for SASSA July 2025 grant payments. This July, grant disbursements scheduled early and starts on 2 July 2025 and will continue until 31 July 2025.
SASSA July 2025 Grant Payment: Update Your Banking Details to Avoid Delays
Beneficiaries have several options to receive the approved grant payments for July 2025. You can add your personal bank account or use alternatives such as the SASSA Gold Card (still valid for July 2025) or the new Black Card to collect your approved funds at Post Office ATMs or participating retail stores.
The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has recommended using a personal bank account to receive your grant money, especially if you are an older person, disabled, or caring for orphaned children, which can make travelling to payment points difficult.
To use your bank account for SASSA grant payments, follow these steps.
Go to the SASSA portal to update and change your banking details at srd.sassa.gov.za.
Click on the “How do I change my banking details?” service tab.
Enter your registered South African ID number and your mobile number used during your application.
You’ll receive a secure link from SASSA via SMS to update your banking details.
Provide the required details, including your bank name, account type, branch code, and account number.
Reconfirm and submit the complete form so that SASSA can update your banking details for the July 2025 payment.
Once your banking details have been successfully updated in SASSA’s system, your grant will be deposited directly into your bank account for July 2025, and all future grant payments will be paid this way.
You can now check your banking app on the scheduled SASSA payment dates for July 2025 to see if your grant has been paid. Once it reflects in your account, you can withdraw it or use it for groceries and other essentials.
Important Reminder for Beneficiaries
SASSA has issued another reminder that beneficiaries are free to use any financial institution (bank) of their choice. However, reported bank charges may affect SASSA grant payments, so you should consider this when updating or changing your banking details.
The agency does not accept bank accounts that are not registered in the name of the original SASSA grant applicant. Any discrepancies may result in payment delays or lead to the July 2025 grant being declined.
