What You Need to Apply for the SASSA SRD Grant

To successfully apply for SRD grant R370, you must have the following information and documents ready.

• South African ID or Passport: Identity proof required for citizens, foreign nationals, or residents.
• Registered Cell Phone Number: Used for grant registration and OTP verification.
• Personal Information: Full name, surname, gender, and disability status (if applicable).

SASSA R350 Grant Application

1. To apply for the SASSA R350 grant visit the web portal. https://srd.sassa.gov.za/
2. Choose your identity classification from South African ID holder or Asylum Seeker and Special Permit File holder.
3. Click on the apply for this SRD Grant in the yellow button to proceed with SASSA R350 application.
4. You will receive your R350 online application form to fill in with the required information.
5. To register for the SRD R350 grant enter your cell phone number and click on the ‘Send SMS’ button.
6. SASSA sends an OTP code to your mobile phone number for verification which you need to insert in the ‘Verify Pin’ box.
7. You will receive screening questions to answer and add your personal details to complete the application including.
   • Your ID number or File number,
   • Full Name and Surname,
   • Job and Income status,
8. Select SASSA payment method to receive your approved grant money every month.
   • Add your personal bank account or Change Sassa Banking Details, if you want to update your payment method.
   • Select your Bank Name
   • Provide Branch Code
   • Provide Account Number
   • Provide Account Type
9. Agree to the Terms and Conditions (Declaration of Consent) for the submitted SASSA banking details and information.
10. Reconfirm your R350 grant application for accuracy, ensuring all details are correct and the application form is complete.
11. Submit your Sassa R350 application to start receive monthly payments from SRD program.

How Long It Takes to Process Your SASSA R350 Application

SASSA takes 2 weeks to 3 months to fully process your SRD R350 grant application and notify you of the final decision. You will receive an SMS from SASSA on your cell phone informing you of the outcome. Once SASSA approves your R350 application, you will start receiving SRD R350 payments every month on scheduled SASSA payment dates.

When I Receive Grant Approved Confirmation SMS

Within 90 days of submitting your R350 application, expect to receive an SMS from SASSA regarding the status of your R350 grant. This message will indicate SASSA decision, whether your Sassa online application has been accepted and approved for monthly payments, declined, or pending for further documents.

• If your SRD application is approved, the SMS will confirm the successful application and provide details on SASSA payment dates to receive your grant for the approved month.
• If your application is declined or rejected, the SMS will specify the reason for SASSA’s decision and provide an option to appeal SASSA if you disagree with the decision.

Important Note: SASSA approves the SRD grant application based on your eligibility criteria, such as your ID not being registered for any other SASSA grant or other government relief programs like NSFAS and SARS.
