SASSA officer verifying a beneficiary’s ID documents before updating phone number at the office, SASSA Warns Update SRD R370 Contact Details by 19 September 2025 to Avoid Missed Payments

Update SRD R370 Contact Details by 19 September 2025 to Avoid Missed Payments

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has warned all SRD R370 beneficiaries to update their cellphone numbers before 19 September 2025. Beneficiaries who fail to update outdated or inactive SRD R370 contact details risk missing their September grant payment, as SASSA uses registered numbers to send payment messages and identity verification codes.

This warning is important for beneficiaries who have lost their phones or switched to a new number. SASSA has urged all affected applicants to update SRD R370 contact details before the 19 September deadline to ensure their September 2025 SRD grant is paid without delays.

Deadline for Updating SASSA Contact Details

SASSA reminds beneficiaries that their registered cellphone number is important for official communication and grant updates. Beneficiaries receive payment SMS, links for banking detail changes, and verification OTPs. For the SRD R370 grant and other social grants, SASSA uses registered cellphone numbers to provide updates on application status, approvals or rejections, payment dates, and appeal outcomes.

If you have recently changed your SIM card, lost your old number, or switched to a new network, you need to update your contact details online or at your nearest SASSA office. Without registering your active cellphone number, your September 2025 payment missed or delayed. After Friday, 19 September, changes will only be processed in the next month.

  • To update your phone number online, go to srd.sassa.gov.za.
  • Select the “Change Phone Number” service.
  • Enter your new cellphone number and update your contact details.
  • Complete the ID verification and enter the OTP sent to confirm you are the original applicant.
  • Once verified, your new number will be updated in the SASSA system.

After 19 September 2025, SASSA will process your phone number changes and send an SMS confirming that the new contact number has been successfully linked to your grant application.

You can check SASSA status for September 2025 to ensure the updated number is correctly linked to your SRD R370 application.

Important Reminder for September 2025 Grant Payments

Beneficiaries are reminded that any updates to phone numbers or changes to banking details with SASSA must be completed before 19 September 2025 to receive the September SRD R370 payments on time. Updates made after the deadline, including changes to personal information like contact details and banking details, will only be processed for the next month. Payments will not be released until the update has been completed.

To report a lost phone number, beneficiaries should contact SASSA helpline on 0800 60 10 11 to prevent unauthorised access to their grant. Updates to phone numbers can then be completed either online through the SASSA portal or in person at a local office. When visiting a branch, beneficiaries are required to present their original ID document for verification.

SASSA’s Notice: SASSA has stressed that it is each beneficiary’s responsibility to keep their contact and banking details accurate and up to date. Without a valid phone number, the agency cannot finalise payment processing, which may leave beneficiaries at risk of not receiving their September grant.
