SASSA Grant Payment for May 2025 Not Received, SASSA beneficiary complete identity verification at mobile help desk

SASSA Grant Payment for May 2025 Not Received

Many SASSA beneficiaries have reported that their May 2025 payments have not yet reflected in their bank accounts or SASSA cards. If you are one of those affected, and your SASSA grant payment for May 2025 not received here’s what you can do to claim your payment even if it’s delayed or declined.

SASSA Grant Payment for May 2025 Not Received

Beneficiaries not paid during the scheduled payment dates of 6, 7, or 8 May 2025 for child support, disability, and older persons’ grants because of the ongoing SASSA verification process involving biometric identity checks.

Starting May 2025, the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has introduced a new biometric verification process for targeted grant beneficiaries. This measure comes in response to previous incidents where SASSA grants paid R140 million to around 75,000 deceased beneficiaries in 2024 due to delays in death registrations and system issues.

For security, SASSA’s new verification system for SRD grants and social grants is now linked to the Department of Home Affairs and other government bodies to prevent such errors, making identity verification a key part of the process.

SASSA announced: “If your social grant for May 2025 has not been paid, please visit your nearest SASSA office. You may be required to complete a verification process.”

In addition to general SASSA card pay and banking pay delays or technical issues, identity verification is currently the most common reason for delayed payments. If your May grant was declined due to a means test result, you can still resolve this by submitting a formal SASSA appeal.

SASSA Enforce Identity Checks Delayed May Payments

According to official statements, SASSA confirms, there will be a delay in the May payment schedule for certain beneficiaries.

With cooperative grant recipients, the ongoing identity verification process will update grant system and correct any misinterpreted or incorrect personal information submitted during SASSA online application or reapplication.

SASSA spokesperson Paseka Letsatsi confirmed that if a beneficiary is flagged and does not verify their identity, their grant may be suspended. If they fail to visit a SASSA office, their grant could lapse permanently.

Complete Verification Now to Avoid Losing Your Grant

The current targeted verification effort focuses on beneficiaries who use alternative identification methods (not 13-digit SA ID numbers), have changed circumstances due to marital or financial status, and have undeclared income, bank accounts, or employment records.

SASSA has made it clear that it reserves the right to review any social grant if a beneficiary’s circumstances change or if fraud is suspected.

Who Must Go to SASSA Offices?

If you receive a system message saying “Identity verification pending,” you must urgently visit a SASSA office. Failure to do so may result in your grant being permanently discontinued.

To confirm whether your grant has been processed for May 2025, visit the SASSA Status Check online. If your ID has been flagged for verification, the system will show a message such as “Identity verification pending.” This means you must visit a SASSA office in person with your original South African ID to complete the verification.

However, verified beneficiaries with corrected identity details will continue to receive their payments but delayed, and the verification process will only affect those with unresolved identification or eligibility issues.
